The Art of Losing With Preparation

The Art of Losing With Preparation(30/03-2026) – I have been pretty busy lately, so I did not have much time to kill gankers.

The list is here (numbers are refering to the number of times I have killed this player – in total, not this month only):

Alliance: Catfapfever (1), Gringero (6), Katheywalker (3), Mupko (1), Pitux (3), Psheroo (1), Svrsgodx (4), Topsecret (2).

Horde: Ebigi (3), Oniuns (1), Ratto (1), Rycs (1), Sanwen (8), Smartidiot (3), Solimorea (3), Titaes (4), Zucc (27).

I thought I would wait until next month so I have more contenders for the Most Stupid Ganker of the Year.

However, something quite entertaining happened, and it would be a shame not to document such dedication to stupidity. This one will clearly qualify for the next edition.

It concerns a familiar specimen: Gringero, who also has a shadow priest called Katheywalker.

Gringero has a one-button ability to push you off the bridge in Freewind Post. If that fails, he runs out, jumps, and logs off mid-air by starting a new instance of the same account, ensuring he cannot be killed. A bold strategy, truly. The kind of courage that deserves to be studied.

Apparently, exposing his complete worthlessness upset him, so he decided to set a trap.

As you may or may not know, WoW in WOTLK was essentially a rock-paper-scissors system. With equal gear and a proper start, certain class matchups are simply decided in advance if both players know how to play their class correctly. Some classes just do not lose to others when played properly. This is why arena compositions at the top are always the same. It is not a coincidence.

In this case, a shadow priest beats a rogue unless the rogue has the opener. Not a guaranteed win, but at least a small chance. A very small one. Not even 50/50.

So our fearless genius took his shadow priest out of retirement and placed it at the end of the bridge in Freewind Post.

In the middle of the bridge, he positioned his Horde character.

Which means my rogue, in stealth, had to pass directly by his Horde character to reach the priest. In other words, he knew exactly where I was. My already tiny advantage disappeared completely.

A masterclass in overcompensation from someone who still needs a level 80 to gank low levels in a place where the biggest challenge is staying awake.

He then asked me, on his Horde character, to write about this on my “forum”. Just to clarify, it is called a “blog”, not a “forum”. But I understand that expecting precision from him would be unreasonable.

So here it is.

But of course, the story does not end there.

I simply parked my Death Knight in Freewind Post.

When he showed up with Katheywalker, I logged onto my Death Knight and killed him three times in a row. No tricks, no setup, no need for a second character standing nearby as emotional support.

At that point, he switched to what I can only describe as the Fantta technique. He stayed dead and waited. Not for courage to return, because that would take longer, but for reinforcements.

Those reinforcements were Svrsgodx and Psheroo, both rogues. And yes, with a numerical advantage, they eventually managed to kill me. A remarkable achievement under the circumstances.

Svrsgodx died in the process, and Katheywalker used mind control to throw me off the bridge. A fitting level of creativity.

Later, I noticed that Psheroo and Katheywalker were AFK, leaving only Svrsgodx online.

I logged onto my rogue, killed him (he’s not very good at 1v1), then proceeded to take Katheywalker and Psheroo as well. Efficiency matters. A couple of lvl 28 “helped me” so they could get revenge and honor points. Nice.

Katheywalker is a noob

I killed Psheroo on March 28th, and he disappeared the next day. Either he deleted his rogue, which would be his most intelligent decision to date, or he changed his name. If it is the latter, I will eventually run into him again if he continues his noble career.

So from now on, whether we are talking about Gringero, Katheywalker, or similar cases, they will need to be at least two to gank low levels.

What a magnificent use of free will. (Sylnera)
